DerpCon Winner - USA (Ryan Seacrest)

On September 25th, the much anticipated winner for the Ryan Seacrest DerpCon competition was announced, the winner being Katelyn (@katelynalexys) who 14 years old.

The Ryan Seacrest competition appears to be the one that has had the most attention due to the fact that to enter all you had to do was tweet the hashtags that Ryan tweeted everyday and then they would chose the winner. 

On being contacted to say that she had won Katelyn said; "I saw that @OnAirWithRyan had followed me on twitter and I thought that was pretty cool, then I saw I had a DM from them saying I was a potential winner. I had to reply with my name and number for verification."

She also told me that "When I enter contests nothing ever happens so when I got the call to say I had won I started freaking out at lunch, I couldn't focus for the rest of the day!"

Unfortunately for Katelyn, she appears to have received a lot of hate and people saying horrible things about her winning the competition. To me, that isn't what DerpCon is supposed to be about. We are meant to be happy for the fam that get to attend and realise that not everyone will get the chance to win.

On winning Katelyn said; "I am beyond excited and grateful that I get this amazing opportunity."

I urge everyone reading this to please understand that Katelyn loves the boys and is truly thankful for the chance that she gets to go to DerpCon and please try to get to know people before judging them.

Honestly from talking to Katelyn she is so deserving and lovely and deserves nothing but lovely messages from the 5SOS fam! :D

It is possible that there will be another competition for USA but I am not sure yet, so keep a look out and of course I will be updating if there is!

DerpCon Winner - Switzerland

The winner for the Switzerland DerpCon competition was chosen and contacted on the 24th September 2014 and the lucky winner was 16 year old Shania (@vansndclifford) She tells me all about what she had to do to enter and how she felt when she was contacted to say that she had won! :D

For the Switzerland competition for DerpCon in order to win, you had to dress up like 5SOS and send the picture and your details in to the website. This was the winning picture that Shania entered with;

From what I see it is clear that Shania put a lot of effort into her entry and was very creative and unique! So well done for that :D


Shania goes on to tell me what happened when she was contacted to say she had won. "I was at school and they rang me and told me I had won. I started shaking and told my friends. I was so shocked."

She then goes on to say; "I don't even remember what happened after that, I only remember being on the floor and my friends hugging me."

So there we have it, Switzerland has it's DerpCon winner and I am sure Shania is so excited to attend DerpCon in LA in November! :D

DerpCon Winner - Ireland

On the 5th September 2014, Ireland chose it's winner for DerpCon and it was lucky 16 year old Martha (@Keepingitlit1D) The contest was held by Dublin radio Spin1038 and the competition was 'if you could be a superhero,what would it be?' Martha told me, "I tweeted in loads, my superhero idea was one who eats loads but never gains any weight!" (which sounds like a great superhero!!)

That night she got the call from the radio station saying she was shortlisted. On Friday the 5th September Martha and the other 3 finalists had to go to the radio station. Martha recalls "I felt horribly sick but excited at the same time!" She got to meet with the other girls and says they got on so well within the space of an hour! 

When the time came to pick who won each girl was given an envelope with the name of a song written on the inside. Martha was given the song Amnesia and the winning song was Amnesia!!

She said her first reaction to was hug the other girls, "things like this don't happen to me and the fact I get to meet the four people who make me happy is just unbelievable, I'm so grateful!"

Congratulations to Martha, a truly deserving fan who I know will really appreciate the experience of going to Derpcon! :D

First DerpCon Winner - Germany

So the very first DerpCon winner was announced on September 2ND and it was for one of the German competitions!

The winner is called Sarah  and she will be taking her friend Jenny (@RealJennstagram) with her to LA to attend DerpCon

Germany has 3 DerpCon competitions and Sarah won for the FFN radio station competition.

Here she explains what she had to do to win:

"We had to tell them what the best 5 seconds of our Summer was, they told me I was one of 8 possible winners and they would call at 11am if I had won and they called me!!"

From Sarah's tweets it is clear to see that she was a very deserving winner and says she can't wait to go to DerpCon and can't believe that she won!

Well done to Sarah, the first winner attending DerpCon!!

My twitter is @5SOSFamDerpcon and as some of you may know I said I was going to start this blog to keep everyone up to date about who the winners of each DerpCon competition are, so here I am! :D
