Hello beautiful people,
Well the time is nearly upon us and it is in fact only 1 week aka 7 days aka 168 hours (and so on) until 5SOS start their world arena tour, Rock Out With Your Socks Out. So, for the occasion I will be doing a special blog series all about ROWYSO and how you (if you are going) can get prepared and enjoy the experience as much as you can! :)
In today's post I will be giving some guidelines on how you should be preparing yourself for this notorious occasion otherwise known as your concert date. I know for maybe some of you whose concert isn't until way later this year you might be thinking it's a little too early for this so you can still read it but it will be here for you when it is closer to your concert to come back and re-read :D but for those of you who are preparing to see 5SOS in the coming weeks then keep reading!
(disclaimer, this might not be very helpful but I'm just giving some tips from previous concert experiences of mine.)
First things first (I'm not the realist) you should prepare your journey. If you plan on staying over night in the city that your concert is in you should have bus/train timetables planned out in advance so that you are not panicking about all that on the day, a hotel booked cause otherwise you will be sleeping on the streets and you don't want that and also some money saved for food, bus fares and in case of any other emergency that might occur.
Also what I like to do is go on google maps (or any other map app) and scope out the area of the city, plan where you want to eat and route out how to get there, same with the arena and getting from the bus/train station to your hotel. Planning this in advance and screen-shooting the directions will save your data and will mean that if you can't get internet connection you will have the directions on your phone.
Next, a very important one to some of you, if you want to try and meet the boys while they are in your city being prepared for a long day of stalking is essential. Recently is has become increasingly more difficult to meet the boys because they are just too darn popular and everyone shows up to meet them and they are becoming more sneaky and sly. The best advice I can give you (because I have never been successful in meeting the boys) is to apply to be an insider for a 5SOS update account. This means that when you apply, the owner of the twitter update account will provide you with the information they have (hotel, flight times etc) and in return you send them updates of what is happening at the location (e.g how many fans are there, send them pictures of the boys etc)
There are still some update accounts who are looking for insiders, for example
@5SOSUnitedCrew
@5sosworldalerts
@5SOS_GPS
@FiveSOSReports
There are probably some more out there but the above ones are reliable so check them out if you want to be an insider.
Side note - if you find out information whether it's from an update account or you work it out on your own DO NOT SHARE IT! Do not tweet/instagram etc even if it's just to one person DO NOT DO IT. I know that seems harsh and you want others to meet them as well but if you tell people and broadcast where they are staying then 100's of people will show up and your chances of meeting them have probably just went down to 0 because they will not come outside if they feel there is a health and safety risk aka chance of a mob.
Ok moving on, your outfit. Some of you will not give a toss about what you wear but others aka me (and hopefully some others so I don't feel alone) will have been planning their outfit for weeks. My top tips on what to wear for a concert would be;
- Comfort is key. There is no point wearing 6 inch heels if you are uncomfortable and wreck your feet. It may look good but 3 songs in you will most likely regret it. So make sure your footwear is comfortable for a whole night, your outfit fits properly and you feel good in what you are wearing.
- Don't feel pressured into wearing what most would consider "a 5sos fam outfit" by that I mean black skinny jeans, a flannel, band shirt, vans/converse and a bandanna. Yes don't get me wrong if that's your style and you like wearing that then go for it. However if you only wear that to "fit in" because you are scared of being judged then DON'T DO IT. You won't feel yourself and you won't enjoy the night if you are not comfortable. If you want to wear a dress, you wear a dress. Honestly be yourself.
I have thought about doing a separate post about what to wear and other tips for your outfit etc so if you would like that then leave me a tweet @5SOSFamDerpCon
Other things that are just miscellaneous would be to get a portable phone charger or spare batteries for your camera. There have been times when I'm at a concert and my camera battery dies and I miss taking a good video of a song I like and I regret it so much, which is why I now carry 3 camera batteries with me to every concert. They are not that expensive, same with phone chargers. And if you are going to be in the city all day you will need to charge your phone at some point during the day.
Pack your bag the night before. Even if you are not going to be out all day and you are only going to the concert it still puts your mind at rest the night before knowing your bag is packed and if you have school or work on the day of your concert then when you come home the only thing you will have to do is change because your bag will be ready to go and it means you won't forget anything.
Memorize the setlist, some people don't like knowing the setlist but I feel that if you want to record a certain song then knowing when it is coming during the show will mean you have time to concentrate and enjoy the rest of the songs instead of worrying when your song is coming up. I personally only record about 3-4 songs of a concert because then I can jump around etc and enjoy the rest of the night instead of watching it through a camera screen. Trust me, it's the best way.
So those are my main points on how to get organised for 5SOS' concert. Hopefully it helped some of you out. I will be doing follow up posts on what you should take with you to a concert, how to try and meet them and probably when ROWYSO starts I will do mini update posts throughout.
If there is anything else you want to know about going to a concert tweet or DM me and I'll help you out :)
That's all for this week, and if you are going to a show soon then HAVE FUN! :D Also if you haven't got tickets then I know that some dates have been adding on extra limited tickets so just keep checking on your ticket outlet to see if tickets have been added to a city near you :)
Lots of love,
